Responsibilities:
Vehicle Testing & Data Acquisition
- Conduct on road and controlled environment vehicle tests to evaluate charging, discharging, and overall energy performance.
- Operate test vehicles safely under various driving conditions to gather real world performance data.
- Perform standardized drive cycles to ensure consistent and repeatable results for charging and discharging evaluations.
- Capture high quality data using onboard data loggers, telematics tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Charging Event Monitoring
- Execute charging sessions across public charging networks (AC Level 2 and DC fast charging) to validate compatibility and performance.
- Record detailed charging behavior, including voltage, current, SOC progression, taper behavior, and thermal performance—during public charger use.
- Document charger types, stations, environmental conditions, failures, interruptions, or anomalies observed during charging events.
- Verify communication between vehicle systems and EVSE (e.g., PLC communication, CCS protocol behavior)
Data Management & Analysis
- Download, process, and validate charging/discharging datasets using engineering analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel, Vector tools).
- Analyze energy consumption, battery SOC behavior, charging efficiency, and thermal trends.
- Identify anomalies, performance deviations, and potential root causes from raw vehicle test data.
- Generate visualizations, summaries, and engineering reports to communicate findings effectively.
Issue Identification & Reporting
- Collaborate with battery, charging, and propulsion engineering teams to troubleshoot charging failures or abnormal behaviors.
- Document issues clearly, including reproduction steps, trace logs, vehicle conditions, and environmental factors.
- Track issues in internal defect tracking systems and support resolution through retesting and validation.
Test Planning & Coordination
- Develop test plans and validation procedures related to charging, discharging, and energy management functions.
- Coordinate test schedules, vehicle availability, instrumentation readiness, and resource requirements.
- Ensure tests follow specified engineering standards, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
- Public Charging Network Interaction
- Interface with public charging providers as needed to investigate compatibility issues or charging interruptions.
- Maintain awareness of regional charging infrastructure differences, charger ratings, and EVSE communication standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all vehicle testing safety guidelines, especially for high voltage systems and EV charging operations.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, EVSE regulations, and electrical system handling protocols.
