Description
This role supports mechanical design engineers with drafting and documentation. This includes creation and maintenance of drawings, part numbers and associated content as well as data entry into cloud-based company systems. This position will periodically interface with Applications, Product Management, Purchasing, Assembly and Testing departments. This is a position for someone looking to grow their technical skills within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support Design Engineers with mechanical drafting work
Perform data entry into cloud-based software to create and maintain accurate product and project records.
Prepare and maintain documentation including operating manuals, fabrication files, assembly files, and specification sheets
Learn Schmalz product ranges to effectively support project needs and customer requirements
Manage and update third party vendor products and services database for use by the design and applications teams
Work with Product Managers to support product standardization and development
Perform Cost analysis for designs and work with the Design Team on cost reductions
Maintain organized records of product specifications and performance results
Create Pneumatic Diagrams and I/O tables with assistance from designers
Support Team members across both Vacuum Automation and Handling Systems divisions, as needed
Other duties as required, relating to CAD management, documentation, and administrative support
Work with Assembly Team to accurately update changes made during the build phase
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Associate’s degree in technical field (Manufacturing, Engineering, Robotics)
2-4 years of relevant experience in engineering support, CAD drafting, or technical documentation
Technical Skills
Experience in creating and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
Data entry and database management experience
Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred, or equivalent)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Core Competencies
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Solid communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Time management skills with emphasis on professionalism and flexibility
Ability to learn new software systems quickly
Customer service mindset and willingness to support team needs
