JOB DESCRIPTIONSear
We are seeking a Designer / Drafter to join a technically driven drilling organization within the mining and drilling industry. This role is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining drawings with detailed welding specifications, developing 3D models, and producing accurate engineering documentation to support drilling rig maintenance, upgrades, and project‑based initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams to translate design intent into practical, buildable solutions, while also providing ongoing operations (OPS) support to rig builders and field teams. This position requires regular collaboration across office, shop, and field environments, with day‑to‑day work varying based on operational and project needs. The role is highly hands‑on and operations‑focused, supporting an active rig upgrade program and addressing increased workload and documentation needs. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, thrives in dynamic environments, and can effectively bridge engineering design with real‑world operational execution. This is a full time role based out of Houston Texas with the expectation to be on site 5 days per week.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 5 years of experience in a designer, drafter, or related position
• 2+ years of experience using Inventor or SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Experience working with AutoCAD
• Solid design and drafting background with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a Windows‑based design environment
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Experience working in the field
• Upstream, drilling, drilling manufacturing or mining experience or supporting similar heavy industrial systems
• Operations‑focused mindset with the ability to support field and shop teams
• Strong collaboration skills with engineers, operations, and project stakeholders
•Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, hands‑on, and frequently changing work environment
