Summary
Uses CAD equipment to provide support to Engineers by preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and diagrams. Places views of designs to include all dimensions and information necessary for manufacture. 3D modeling of parts and assemblies to be used in designs and assist in maintaining parts and drawing libraries. Make copies of drawings and maintain information regarding changes to database. Makes decisions with the support from Engineers and/or Supervisor, working as a team. Provide shop support on information regarding drawing details.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Includes The Following.
Uses computer assisted design/drafting (Inventor, AutoCad) equipment and software to develop 2D CAD and 3D Inventor drawings, including dimensions, balloons, Bills of Materials, and 3D model creation
Uses database and version control software (Vault)
Responsible for drawing checking which would include: dimensioning, materials to be used based on Engineer’s specifications, fabrication instructions, Bill of Materials, quantities and weld symbols. Makes minor corrections to pipe lengths, Materials, fittings and flanges. Create views within models to show details as required
Drawing checking of drawings by others
Responsible for maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings and following existing standards
Communicate with QC, Engineering, Production, and Field Service regarding new and revised prints
Routinely produce accurate drawings promptly and efficiently
Ability to complete CAD drawings independently in a timely manner to company and customer standards
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.

Education And/or Experience
High school with Associate's degree in Computer Aided Drafting and math, and/or equivalent experience and training.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Analytical – Gathers, analyzes and applies information to model and modify components
Proficiency with CAD software: 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Inventor), Autodesk Products or ability to switch from competing software quickly
Written Communication - Able to read and interpret written information and vendor drawings
Teamwork - Supports everyone's efforts to succeed
Computers – Ability to understand file structure, email and internet security as well as basic usage of Microsoft Office software and Windows 11 working environments
Soft Skills - Promptness and on time, self starter, self sufficient
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical basics and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry and algebra. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal apply to drawings and 3D models.
Computer Skills
Familiarity with CAD equipment, spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, file structure, email and internet security, and basic Windows/Office environments.
Physical Demands
Read computer monitor and written documentation. Requires bending, standing and reaching. Sit for long periods of time. May lift and or move at least 15 pounds.
Work Environment
The work environment described here is representative of those an employee encounters while working at Dearing Compressor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the specific job. The exposure in the office areas are typical and plant operations areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed boots, safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection. In the plant area, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Temperature of manufacturing work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining operations. The employee is occasionally exposed to odors, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing area is usually loud. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. During occasional trips into the field, there may be other exposures beyond those stated due to field.
