Job Title: Distribution Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Distribution Design Engineer to support active QA/QC efforts across distribution projects. This role is crucial in ensuring design accuracy, compliance with standards, and consistency across large-scale distribution and resiliency programs. The ideal candidate will have significant experience, strong technical judgment, and be actively involved in reviewing and validating distribution designs.
Responsibilities
Perform active QA/QC reviews of distribution engineering design packages.
Review designs for compliance with standards, specifications, and construction practices.
Support overhead and underground distribution designs, including line extensions, rebuilds, and resiliency-related scopes.
Identify design discrepancies, provide corrective guidance, and ensure quality issues are resolved prior to client submission.
Collaborate with designers, engineers, and project managers to maintain quality and schedule adherence.
Support resiliency programs, ensuring designs align with storm hardening, reliability, and modernization initiatives.
Assist with mentoring junior designers and engineers on specific requirements and QA/QC best practices.
Participate in client coordination and internal quality audits as needed.
Essential Skills
QA/QC experience supporting projects.
5+ years of direct experience supporting distribution projects.
5+ years of DDS (Distribution Design Studio) experience.
5+ years of experience working on resiliency programs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent utility experience).
Strong working knowledge of distribution standards, construction units, and design workflows.
Experience supporting multiple client projects simultaneously.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify risks in design packages.
Prior experience in a lead, reviewer, or quality-focused engineering role.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $48.00/hr.
