Director, North America Social Impact & Community Engagement
Accepting applicationsMicron · Manassas, United States, North America
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Micron Technology is looking for a dynamic Director to lead our North America Social Impact and Community Engagement (SICE) regional team dedicated to achieving meaningful results. This is a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of corporate philanthropy, community investment, and strategic innovation at one of the world's leading semiconductor companies — during one of the most exciting chapters in Micron's and the industry’s history.
As a member of the SICE Leadership Team, you will oversee a talented team of geography leads (spanning a portfolio that includes Idaho, New York, Virginia, California, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota, and Mexico) and will play a central role in shaping how Micron shows up as a committed and impactful corporate citizen across North America. You will also provide leadership to two exciting and high-visibility bodies of work: (1) building out Micron's global in-kind donation program, and (2) co-developing a customer social impact engagement strategy that deepens Micron's shared value relationships. You will report to the Global Head of Social Impact and Community Engagement and Executive Director of the Micron Foundation, who is based in Washington, DC.
If you are a strategic problem solver who thrives in high-volume, fast-moving environments, loves building structure out of complexity, and is motivated by both the rigor of outcomes-based philanthropy and the creativity of multi-stakeholder partnership, this role is for you!
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Regional Oversight - Directly manage three geography leads and provide indirect oversight to one additional team member, covering Micron's North America footprint across seven U.S. states (ID, CA, TX, CO, NY, MN, and VA), as well as Mexico. Coach, develop, and support a high-performing team to deliver outcomes-first social impact programming across diverse geographies and community contexts. Serve as a member of the SICE Leadership Team, contributing to global strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational decision-making. Practice a shared value approach to corporate philanthropy and collaborate with other business units and teams, including those leading communications, marketing, government relations, sustainability, culture and inclusion, talent acquisition, university relations, and wellbeing. Represent Micron at community events and serve as local spokesperson for media engagement related to our social impact and community engagement work. To be assigned responsibilities on the team will include serving as a liaison to specific ERGs (employee resource groups), industry associations, other teams and business units.
Grantmaking & Community Engagement - Lead all aspects of Micron's North America grantmaking portfolio, ensuring grants are strategically aligned, rigorously evaluated, and delivering measurable community impact. Guide geography leads in developing site-specific social impact strategies that reflect local community needs, business priorities, and SICE’s global theory of change. Drive outcomes-based storytelling and measurement, elevating the quality of impact data and learning across the portfolio.
In-Kind Donation Program - Build out Micron's global in-kind donation program from strategy through execution, encompassing IT equipment, furniture, and semiconductor tools. Establish systems, processes, and partnerships that enable efficient, impactful, and compliant donation of Micron assets to nonprofit and educational partners globally.
Customer Social Impact Engagement - Co-develop and co-lead (together with the APAC& EMEA Regional Director) Micron's customer social impact engagement strategy, creating frameworks for co-volunteering, co-funding, and co-creating community impact ventures with key customers. Serve as a relationship steward with priority customer partners, advancing shared value and deepening Micron's reputation as a collaborative corporate citizen.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration - Partner closely with Global Public Affairs, Global Communications & Marketing, Talent Acquisition, Wellbeing, Culture and Inclusion, Sustainability, and People Organization teams to ensure social impact work is integrated and amplified. Collaborate across time zones with SICE colleagues in APAC and EMEA, contributing to a globally coherent and locally relevant program. Global travel, especially within the United States and Mexico, (~ 25%) to support site engagement, partner relationships, and community events.
Minimum Qualifications:
20+ years in corporate social impact/philanthropy with deep expertise in outcomes-based grantmaking and impact strategy.
10+ years leading and developing teams with a collaborative, empowering leadership style.
Strong impact measurement, evaluation & learning (MEL) capabilities, translating data into strategy, insights, and compelling storytelling.
