Description:
BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of experience in dimensional metrology within an industrial or automotive environment
Proven experience performing dimensional comparison studies (before/after material, tooling or process changes)
Strong statistical analysis capability (SPC, Cp/Cpk, trend analysis)
Advanced working knowledge of PolyWorks (alignment, scanning, deviation analysis)
Hands-on experience with dimensional measurement equipment (CMM programming & operation, 3D scanning, checking fixtures)
Experience measuring plastic injection parts (preferably automotive exterior components such as bumpers, trims, large injected parts)
Strong understanding of GD&T applied in production environments
Ability to independently analyze dimensional variation (shrinkage, warpage, tolerance shifts) and provide data-driven conclusions
Fluent in English
Ability to work autonomously with minimal ramp-up time
Strong interface capability between product, process and plant teams
Job Description Details:
Perform dimensional comparison studies following material, tooling, or process changes
Conduct statistical analysis (SPC, Cp/Cpk, trend analysis) to evaluate process capability and dimensional stability
Program and operate CMM equipment to perform dimensional measurements
Use PolyWorks for alignment strategies, 3D scanning analysis, and deviation studies
Analyze dimensional variation including shrinkage, warpage, and tolerance shifts
Identify root causes of dimensional deviations and define corrective actions
Prepare structured, data-driven dimensional reports
Present findings to Project Managers and cross-functional teams to support convergence decisions
Support production convergence through statistical monitoring and dimensional tracking
Apply GD&T principles in real production validation scenarios
Support technical discussions regarding dimensional feasibility and process capability
Estimate dimensional validation workload (hours and effort) when required
Profile:
Dimensional Metrology Engineer – Plastic Injection
Confirmed level (3–7 years experience)
Strong hands-on and field-oriented profile
Strong analytical and statistical mindset
Autonomous and able to work independently
Comfortable presenting technical findings to Project Managers and stakeholders
Structured, rigorous and data-driven
Strong communication skills
Must Have:
Minimum 3 years of direct dimensional metrology experience
Proven experience performing dimensional comparison studies
Advanced working knowledge of PolyWorks
Strong statistical analysis capability (SPC, Cp/Cpk, trend analysis)
Hands-on CMM programming and operation experience
Direct experience measuring plastic injection parts
Ability to independently analyze dimensional variation and provide corrective recommendations
Experience building structured dimensional reports
Experience presenting dimensional results to technical stakeholders
Good to Have:
Automotive Tier 1 experience
Experience with exterior plastic parts (bumpers, trims, large injected parts)
Experience supporting tolerance feasibility discussions with customers
Knowledge of injection molding impact on geometry (shrinkage, warpage behavior)
Experience in high-volume production environments
Experience in complex or innovative project environments
