Location: San Diego, California (Onsite)
Clearance: Secret Clearance
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a Digital Engineer for an on-site position. This role involves the design, development, integration, and testing of VHDL-based digital designs, with a primary focus on software-defined radio VHDL firmware codebases. The position is contingent upon program acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, integrate, and test VHDL-based digital designs for end-user customers.
Work with FPGA programming development tools and environments.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test.
Operate within a waterfall or Agile software development environment.
Analyze system concepts of operation, requirements, and design documents to resolve functional, performance, or timing issues.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in a related STEM field is required.
Experience: Five years of experience with a BS degree, or three years of experience with an MS degree. Significant hands-on current experience in VHDL design is necessary.
Skills: Candidates must have excellent written and communication skills and be able to work independently and within groups. A working knowledge of formal engineering development processes, VHDL design, and verification is needed.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
An Active DOD Secret clearance
Eight or more years of professional technical experience.
Experience with VHDL design and OSVVM verification for FPGA firmware.
Experience with AMD/Xilinx series devices including Zynq, Kintex, Ultrascale, and Versal families.
Experience with Communication Protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.
Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools like Vivado, Quartus, and QuestaSim.
Knowledge of FPGA physical constraints and achieving timing closure.
Generation of test benches and support of formal VHDL verification.
Experience with board or system-level debug using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
Experience translating systems requirements into programmable logic requirements, design documents, and test specifications.
Hands-on experience with defense communications systems.
