Job Description
Design for Excellence (DFX)
Apply DFX methodologies including DFM, DFA, DFQ, DFR, DFT, DFS, and DFE during product design and development.
Participate in design reviews and provide structured DFX feedback and approvals.
Identify design risks and drive corrective actions before product release.
Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFM/DFA)
Analyze product designs to ensure alignment with manufacturing and assembly processes.
Recommend design simplification, standardization, and part count reduction.
Ensure designs support manual and automated assembly where applicable.
Design for Quality & Reliability
Lead or support DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
Identify Critical‑to‑Quality (CTQ) parameters and ensure they are adequately controlled.
Support root cause analysis for field, production, or quality issues related to design.
Develop and maintain DFX guidelines, checklists, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with internal engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
Support change management and engineering change reviews (ECR/ECO).
Technical Skills
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
Experience with DFM/DFA/DFMEA/PFMEA
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and process capability
Ability to interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
Familiarity with materials, surface finishes, and production constraints
Tools & Software
CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, etc.)
PLM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, etc.)
FMEA and quality analysis tools
Basic knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis
Salary Range: $110,000 - $165,000 a year
