Design Engineer - General ThermoDynamics (an API Heat Transfer Company)

Location: Franklin, WI | Department: Engineering | FLSA: Exempt

Build What Moves Industry.

At General ThermoDynamics, we design and manufacture heat exchangers and thermal systems for demanding industrial applications. As a Design Engineer, you’ll turn customer requirements into robust, manufacturable designs—partnering with Applications and Manufacturing Engineering to launch reliable products on time and on cost.

What You’ll Do

Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs for heat exchangers and components.
Apply thermal, structural, and fluid-flow principles to meet performance and reliability targets.
Collaborate across Applications, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations from concept to release.
Support feasibility, prototyping, validation testing, and ECN/ECO processes.
Drive continuous improvement across designs, materials, and methods in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

What You Bring

Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
3+ years of design experience in thermal systems, heat exchangers, or fabricated metal products is a plus.
Proficiency in 3D CAD and GD&T; strong design-for-manufacture mindset.
Familiarity with ASME/TEMA/API codes and shop processes (welding, sheet metal, machining) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Office and manufacturing floor exposure; occasional standing/walking and lifting up to 25 lbs (PPE provided).
Occasional overtime to meet project milestones; up to 10% travel.
