About the Position:
The Design Engineer II (DE II) plays a critical role in bridging sales and operations by owning system design after project award and delivering high-quality documentation to support successful project execution. This role is responsible for developing detailed AV system designs, ensuring adherence to AV9000 quality standards, and supporting staging, installation, and commissioning efforts. The DE II also serves as a key technical contact for clients, leads design efforts on most projects, and mentors junior team members while contributing to continuous process improvement.What You Will Do: Job Responsibilities:
Develop detailed AV system documentation including construction drawings, cable schedules, signal flows, and network summaries
Lead design efforts for small to medium projects and serve as the primary engineering contact for clients
Interpret architectural drawings and ensure proper AV system integration within environments
Collaborate with sales, project managers, and operations teams to ensure alignment from design through execution
Support system commissioning readiness through accurate design, DSP requirements, and network coordination
Identify and mitigate design risks, escalating issues and collaborating on solutions with internal teams
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements, standards, and best practices

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
AVIXA CTS-D Certification
AQAV CQD certification
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Audinate, Q-SYS, Biamp, Crestron) preferred
Experience:
3+ years of AV industry experience
5+ years' experience with AutoCAD drafting in a professional AV environment
Experience developing full AV documentation packages and supporting system design lifecycle

What We Prefer:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and Bluebeam/Adobe
Strong understanding of AV systems including audio, video conferencing, control systems, and networking
Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality documentation
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and clients
Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative engineering team
