We're working with an established design-build structural firm known for delivering complex, high-quality structures across the self-storage, multifamily, and commercial sectors. They're adding a Design Engineer to their team just outside of Atlanta, GA and this isn't a heads-down drafting role.
We're looking for a technical leader someone who can walk into a room full of outside engineers, hold them accountable, and drive projects forward. If you've got 3+ years of structural design experience, Revit proficiency, and the interpersonal presence to match your technical chops, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
Review customer documents (architectural, civil, MEP) before drafting begins, flagging issues and value-engineering opportunities
Review and push back on redlines from outside engineers; hold third-party vendors to company standards
Provide direction to drafters on complex and unique structural conditions
Support estimating and sales teams with structural input and customer-facing calls
Manage the company's template and standard details library in Revit
Lead weekly design meetings with internal and third-party design staff to keep projects moving
What We're Looking For
BS in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering required
3+ years of structural design experience in the building industry
Revit proficiency — non-negotiable; clients exchange models in Revit
Experience with Risa or comparable 3D structural design software
Heavy structural steel background preferred; multifamily/living space experience also a strong fit
PE license or a clear, near-term path to licensure — this is critical, not a soft preference
Confident communicator who can push back on outside engineers and lead a room
Interpersonally strong — this role requires the exception to the introverted engineer stereotype
Why This Role
Employee-owned company (ESOP) with historically strong returns
Variety — you'll be across many projects simultaneously; no two days look the same
Real authority — the role exists to hold outside engineers accountable, not just execute work
A culture that celebrates people, not just output
