Design Engineer

General Description:

Under general to moderate supervision, responsible for creating original styling designs for company products that relate to product function and use and generates sales appeal through consumer appeal. Creates new design concepts or modifies accepted designs incorporating changes such as shape, mounting, light source, etc., as required.  

With supervisor approval of designs, prepares component CAD models and drawings, bills of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, issues Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and assigns part numbers.

Essential Functions of the job:

• Performs all aspects of Designer 2.

• Designs die castings, sand castings, permanent mold casting, spinnings, extrusions, and injection molded parts along with associated drawings.

• Designs sheet metal components, brackets, and other parts along with associated drawings.

• Manages various small scope projects as assigned. 

• Designs High Intensity Discharge (HID), fluorescent, and LED lighting systems.

• Designs materials with an understanding of structural engineering and heat transfer. 

• Assigns part numbers and load part descriptions in company computer operating systems.

• Issues ECN as required for drawings, parts and BOM changes.

• Creates assembly instructions for shop and customers.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Salary: $70,000-85,000/ year
