The Role. As a Design Engineer, you will turn design intent into a high-fidelity shipped experience, elevating execution quality through:

Micro-interactions
Animation
Haptics
Transitions
Visual polish
…while maintaining strong product thinking.

What a Design Engineer Is (and Is Not) --This role is not just a Frontend Developer. A Design Engineer:

Designs and codes
Applies design judgment during implementation
Bridges design ↔ code
Understands tools like Figma, design systems, and platform constraints
Owns the quality of the user experience

Core Responsibilities

UI Implementation with Design Judgment
Build screens and components while preserving design intent
Ensure consistency in spacing, typography, contrast, states, and alignment
Identify and fix UI inconsistencies proactively
Craft & “After Execution” (Key Differentiator)
Implement micro-interactions, transitions, and haptics
Ensure complete states (loading, empty, error)
Maintain accessibility and performance standards
Continuously refine and elevate product quality
Product Thinking
Understand the problem and expected impact before building
Use data (e.g., Amplitude) to validate decisions
Align execution with business and user outcomes
Proactivity & Ownership (Core Expectation)
Do not wait for final designs—propose solutions when needed
Make design decisions during execution (e.g., motion, contrast, UI treatments)
Take initiative and act as a design expert
Seek feedback early and iteratively
Collaboration & Alignment
Work closely with Product Designers and Engineering teams
Align with the design system
Ensure consistency across platforms (web and mobile)
Share learnings across teams
Tools & Workflow (Including VibeCode)
Use VibeCode to accelerate exploration and implementation
Maintain quality and design standards while using automation

Quality Guardrails

Maintain high standards for interaction, motion, spacing, and typography
Validate outputs on real devices and edge cases
Refactor the generated code before shipping
Ensure accessibility, performance, and complete states

Required Skills & Competencies

Attention to detail (core): strong visual and consistency awareness
Design + Code fluency: ability to interpret specs and build components
UX judgment: focus on how experiences feel, not just how they look
Motion & interaction design: timing, easing, gestures, haptics
Communication: ability to explain trade-offs and propose solutions

Own the design during execution—do not wait for full specifications
Identify and fix inconsistencies proactively
Use VibeCode responsibly (accelerate, then refine and standardize)
Protect experience quality and visual standards
Deliver production-ready work (including accessibility and performance)
Collaborate closely with Design and Engineering
Communicate constraints, trade-offs, and decisions clearly

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000, and the actual starting salary may vary depending on geographic location, work experience, and skills.
