Job Description & Skill Requirement:
•Lead VAVE initiatives to achieve targeted cost reduction (% YoY) across surgical product portfolio.
•Perform should-cost analysis, teardown studies, and benchmarking of competitor products.
•Identify opportunities for: Material cost reduction/Design simplification/Supplier optimization/Process efficiency improvements
•Drive design-to-cost strategies early in product lifecycle.
•Work closely with manufacturing teams to:
•Improve assembly efficiency and yield
•Reduce scrap and rework
•Evaluate alternative manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, stamping).
•Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) initiatives.
•Partner with sourcing teams for: Vendor identification and qualification/ Cost negotiations based on technical insights
•Conduct competitive benchmarking and feature-cost mapping.
•Identify innovative materials and alternative technologies to reduce cost.
•Contribute to patent landscaping and design differentiation
•Lead VAVE projects across functions with clear ownership and timelines.
•Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional, global teams
Technical Skills
•Strong knowledge of:
o Mechanical design (GD&T, tolerance analysis)
o Materials (plastics, metals used in medical devices)
o Manufacturing processes:
o Injection molding
o Precision machining
o Assembly automation
•Experience with: CAD tools (Creo preferred) /Cost modeling / should-cost tools
•DFM/DFA, DFMEA, FEA, tolerance analysis, and advanced PLM tools
•Strong understanding of: ISO 13485, ISO 14971 (Risk Management) & DHF
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience in surgical devices (staplers, energy devices, drug delivery systems)
•Exposure to:
o Global product transfers / localization
o Teardown & benchmarking studies
•Six Sigma / Lean certification is a plus

The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 to $1,00,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
