Overview:

We are seeking a Design Engineer II to support the design and development of automotive components for a global automotive company. This role is focused on hands-on design work and requires a candidate who can quickly contribute to complex projects with minimal ramp-up time.

The ideal candidate brings strong CAD expertise, practical design experience, and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform design and layout activities for vehicle systems, including:
High-voltage cables (primary focus)
Low-voltage harnesses
Cooling components (hoses, pipes, brackets, radiators, expansion tanks)
Execute routing, packaging, and integration of components within vehicle architecture
Create and release 2D and 3D drawings with full GD&T application
Develop and maintain CAD models using CATIA V5/V6
Support design reviews and provide clear technical justification for decisions
Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, and engineering teams
Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements
Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to ensure design feasibility
Contribute to solving complex engineering problems with a logical, structured approach

Required Qualifications:

4–6+ years of design engineering experience (target ~6 years; flexible for strong candidates)
Strong CAD experience (CATIA V6 preferred; V5 acceptable with transferable skills)
Proven experience in layout, routing, and packaging design
Proven experience in component design and release
Experience creating 2D/3D drawings with GD&T proficiency
Strong design and modeling capability
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production intent
Ability to handle complex designs and problem-solving independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Automotive industry experience
Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
Broader exposure to product development lifecycle and engineering change processes

Location: Raymond, OH (100% onsite)

Type: 12+ contract

Pay: $40/hr - $45/hr (DOE)
