Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to lead the development and integration of mechanical, structural, and thermal systems supporting hydrogen generation technologies. This individual will be responsible for driving end-to-end system design, ensuring seamless functionality and integration of subsystems at customer sites. The role partners closely with R&D, Installation, Business Development, and EPC contractors to meet technical and business objectives. The engineer will create and maintain detailed designs, documentation, and product definitions to support scalable installation and service efforts. Responsibilities include leading component and system design from concept through production, ensuring validation, documentation, and release readiness. The ideal candidate will apply strong analytical skills, including FEA and CFD, to support design decisions and optimize system performance. This position also requires deep collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers to implement new designs and manage design revisions effectively. Success in this role requires strong leadership, innovation, and the ability to operate across multidisciplinary teams while staying aligned with industry standards and evolving technologies.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) with 8+ years of experience in mechanical/system design (or Master’s with 5+ years).
- Strong background in mechanical design engineering with experience in industrial electromechanical systems (piping, structures, electronics integration).
- Experience designing process piping systems (power generation, electrolyzers, oil & gas, water treatment, or similar).
- Proficiency performing engineering analysis including FEA, CFD, and hand calculations to support design validation.
- Experience working cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to move designs from concept through production.
Nice To Have Skills & Experience:
- Experience with fuel cell or electrolyzer balance of plant (BoP) systems.
- Knowledge of ASME B31 pressure piping, structural weldments, and pressure vessel design.
- Experience with industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ISO, IEC, AWS; ISO 22734, IEC 60079-10-1, CSA FC4).
- Proficiency with CREO, Windchill, ANSYS, and Mathcad.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools (generative design, simulation acceleration, or automation) in engineering workflows.
Type: Direct Placement
Salary: $100,000-$120,000 depending on experience
