Role Summary
A Network Design Engineer is responsible for designing and delivering large-scale enterprise network infrastructure solutions. This senior-level position focuses on data center and enterprise network architecture, working collaboratively with implementation teams and stakeholders to ensure scalable, resilient, and well-documented network solutions. The role requires a deep technical expertise combined with strong communication skills to support complex data center environments and large network migrations.
Responsibilities
Design and validate large-scale data center network architectures, including VXLAN-based spine-leaf fabrics (EVPN).
Develop High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) aligned with enterprise standards and business requirements.
Lead or participate in data center build-outs, technology refreshes, and migration initiatives.
Design and support enterprise LAN/WAN architectures across distributed environments.
Prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and implementation guidelines for network deployment.
Review and validate network designs through technical discussions and design reviews.
Work across multi-vendor environments, notably with Arista and Cisco platforms, ensuring compatibility and performance.
Apply principles of routing, switching, resiliency, high availability, and scalability to design solutions.
Ensure network designs meet security, operational, and compliance standards.
Collaborate with implementation, operations, vendor, and architecture teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and documentation.
Qualifications
10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering with a focus on design.
Proven experience designing and implementing large data centers, data center migrations, and enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
Strong expertise in VXLAN/EVPN fabric design and spine-leaf architectures.
Ability to clearly articulate design principles, trade-offs, and architectural decisions.
Extensive experience working in multi-vendor environments, particularly with Arista EOS and Cisco platforms.
CCIE certification (Data Center, Routing & Switching) or equivalent expert-level certification preferred.
Advanced Arista certifications (e.g., L4 or higher) desirable.
Exposure to network automation tools such as Ansible, Python, or templated design approaches is a plus.
Excellent design documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in complex, regulated, or mission-critical enterprise settings.
Must be available for full-time, first shift / Eastern Time work schedule.
Publishing Pay Range: $53.00 – $55.00 Hourly
This position is based in the office and requires employee to work on-site.
