Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to play a key role in the design, optimization, and manufacturing support of our overhead, submersible, and pad‑mounted distribution transformers. This position requires strong technical acumen, hands‑on engineering experience, and the ability to translate customer and manufacturing needs into reliable, cost‑effective product solutions.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of transformer design principles, proficiency in 2D/3D design tools, and a passion for driving innovation in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering design efforts for distribution transformers across multiple product lines, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and alignment with customer requirements.
Drive product optimization and cost‑reduction initiatives, improving profitability while maintaining quality and reliability.
Collaborate with Sales and Customer Support to interpret order requirements and accurately load bills of materials into the ERP system.
Partner with Supply Chain and external vendors to review material specifications, implement material or design changes, and support consolidation and cost‑reduction projects.
Support cross‑functional teams by providing technical guidance, resolving design challenges, and contributing to continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or closely related discipline, plus 5+ years of transformer design experience is ideal.
OR in lieu of a degree: 15+ years of proven experience in transformer design, manufacturing, testing, and/or field service.
Minimum 5 years of experience with AutoCAD 2D or equivalent drafting software.
Minimum 3 years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or comparable 3D modeling software.
