Position Summary

Bridge Brothers is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of custom steel bridge and structural projects from concept through completion. This role works closely with engineering, drafting, fabrication, and construction teams to develop practical, buildable solutions in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in structural, mechanical, industrial, civil, or related engineering disciplines and enjoy solving real-world fabrication and construction challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on exposure to steel structures, fabrication, and project execution while continuing to grow technically and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Support project design efforts from initial concept through fabrication and construction support.
Perform engineering calculations and assist with structural and foundation design activities.
Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
Apply relevant engineering standards including AASHTO, AISC, ASCE, ACI, DOT, and IBC requirements where applicable.
Collaborate with drafting and detailing teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent and fabrication requirements.
Work closely with fabrication, project management, and field teams throughout project execution.
Assist with reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and project documentation.
Visit fabrication shops and job sites as needed to gather measurements, support installation efforts, and help resolve field issues.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and customers.
Support continuous improvement of engineering workflows, processes, and project execution.
Provide technical support related to fabrication, constructability, and project coordination.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field required.
2–5 years of engineering or design experience preferred.
Experience with steel structures, fabrication, bridge systems, construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects preferred.
Familiarity with structural design principles and engineering codes such as AASHTO, AISC, ASCE, or IBC is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret engineering, structural, and fabrication drawings.
Understanding of steel fabrication and construction methods is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
EIT certification is a plus but not required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Fast-paced office and fabrication environment.
Occasional bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
Comfortable visiting fabrication shops and construction job sites as required.
PPE required and provided when in shop or field environments.

Role Details

Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time
Overtime: Available as needed
Employment Type: Exempt
Benefits: Eligible after 90 days (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and paid holidays)
Travel: Occasional for project and job site support
