Automation Design Engineer
Cincinnati, OH: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an Automation Design Engineer to develop innovative engineering solutions, create technical drawings and documentation, and support the product development process from concept through production. This role focuses on the design and development of electrical and automation components used in automated mechanical systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, safety, and cost requirements.
Essential Duties:
• Develop and refine product designs using appropriate engineering tools and software
• Create and maintain technical drawings, models, and supporting documentation
• Support the design of electrical and automation components used in automated systems
• Participate in the development of new products and improvements to existing designs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality to ensure design feasibility and functionality
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of product designs
• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and specifications
• Identify and resolve design-related issues during development and production phases
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
• Experience in a design or product development role
• Experience with electrical or automation-related engineering work
• Proficiency in CAD and design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with simulation tools, prototyping, or testing methods
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards and certifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with automation systems
• Electrical engineering background
• Experience working with automated mechanical systems
• Familiarity with various types of valves (control, pressure, isolation, etc.)
• Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments
• Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems such as Dynamics 365
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move throughout engineering and production environments
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production or testing environments
