Why Join Giga
The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
What You'll Do
As Sales Engineer at Giga, you are the technical heartbeat of every deal we close. You sit at the intersection of deep infrastructure expertise and high-velocity commercial motion — translating the complexity of AI data center development (electrical distribution, mechanical systems, and civil/site work) into compelling, credible narratives that win the confidence of the world's most sophisticated buyers. You will partner directly with our sales leadership to define technical strategy for each opportunity, own the solution architecture from first call through signed contract, and serve as the customer's trusted advisor from prospect to operational handoff. This is not a support role — you are a revenue driver who happens to speak the language of substations, cooling infrastructure, and site feasibility.
Where You'll Work
We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical resource in the sales cycle for AI data center opportunities, owning solution design across electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines from initial scoping through contract execution.
Partner with Account Executives to qualify opportunities, develop account strategies, and drive technical win plans that align Giga's capabilities to each customer's infrastructure requirements.
Lead technical discovery sessions and site feasibility assessments, translating customer power, cooling, and site requirements into buildable, fundable Giga solutions.
Develop and deliver compelling technical presentations, proposals, and RFP responses that address utility interconnection, power distribution, MEP systems, and civil/grading constraints.
Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with customer engineering, procurement, and executive teams throughout the sales process.
Collaborate with Giga's internal engineering, construction, and project development teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound, constructible, and commercially competitive.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and opportunity data in CRM, providing deal status and forecast updates to sales leadership.
Contribute to the development of sales tools including technical playbooks, case studies, and standard solution configurations that accelerate future deals.
Represent Giga at industry events, conferences, and customer site visits to build technical credibility and pipeline.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in a technical sales, sales engineering, or solutions engineering role within data center, utility-scale power, or industrial infrastructure.
Deep technical knowledge in at least two of the following disciplines: electrical systems (medium/high voltage distribution, utility interconnection, backup power), mechanical systems (cooling infrastructure, HVAC, fluid systems), or civil/site work (grading, site utilities, permitting).
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, site plans, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
Experience developing technical proposals, responding to RFPs, and presenting complex infrastructure solutions to both technical and executive audiences.
Proven track record of closing or directly supporting the close of large, technically complex deals in a B2B environment.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities at different stages of the sales cycle.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Points
Direct experience in hyperscale or colocation data center development, construction, or operations.
Familiarity with AI/ML workload power and cooling demands, including GPU cluster infrastructure requirements.
Existing relationships with hyperscaler procurement teams, large enterprise IT buyers, or data center developers.
Experience with utility interconnection processes and grid-scale power procurement.
Professional engineering licensure (PE) in electrical, mechanical, or civil discipline.
Exposure to power purchase agreements (PPAs), site selection, or development finance in the infrastructure sector.
Benefits
Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
401(k) with 4% employer match
Unlimited PTO
Parental leave
Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
