Role Overview
We are seeking a Crash Test Validation Engineer to support vehicle safety testing and validation activities within an automotive safety center. This role is responsible for preparing vehicle electronic modules and systems for crash testing, ensuring correct hardware and software configurations, collecting and analyzing test data, and supporting post-test investigations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with automotive electronics, vehicle testing, data acquisition systems, and validation processes. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, safety, and testing teams to ensure accurate execution and reporting of crash test activities.
Key Responsibilities
Crash Test Preparation
Coordinate vehicle readiness for crash testing activities.
Verify that all required electronic modules are installed and configured correctly prior to testing.
Confirm proper hardware and software versions are loaded into vehicle systems.
Update module configurations and software parameters as required before test execution.
Ensure all assigned modules and systems are properly monitored throughout the test process.
Test Execution & Data Collection
Support crash test setup and execution activities at the vehicle safety center.
Monitor vehicle systems and module performance during crash events.
Capture, retrieve, and validate test data from vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) and associated systems.
Ensure data integrity and completeness throughout the testing process.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Download, organize, and analyze crash test data from vehicle modules.
Generate technical reports summarizing test results, observations, and findings.
Provide data packages and reports to engineering and development teams for further analysis.
Support root cause investigations and issue resolution activities when anomalies are identified.
Simulation & Validation Support
Perform data simulation and parameter verification activities to support crash test preparation and analysis.
Update and calibrate module parameters as required based on test objectives and engineering requirements.
Assist engineering teams in validating safety system performance and compliance with design requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with vehicle safety, electronics, software, validation, and development teams.
Support troubleshooting activities before, during, and after crash testing.
Participate in technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives related to vehicle safety validation processes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive testing, validation, vehicle electronics, or safety systems engineering.
Experience working with automotive ECUs, vehicle networks, and data acquisition systems.
Understanding of vehicle safety systems and crash testing processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting vehicle crash tests or safety validation programs.
Knowledge of CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, or other automotive communication protocols.
Experience with data logging, diagnostics, and vehicle network analysis tools.
Familiarity with simulation, calibration, or parameter management activities.
Experience working within automotive OEM or supplier environments.
