Job Purpose
Honda Racing Corporation USA, a leader in motorsports racing, is seeking a highly motivated Tyre & Vehicle Performance Engineer to optimize race car design and setup configurations, driving on-track performance gains through advanced measurement, modeling, and analysis of the tire-vehicle system. This role will play a critical part in bridging real-world track performance with simulation, working cross-functionally with race engineers, software developers, and tire manufacturers in a fast-paced, competitive motorsport environment. Traveling will be required.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and maintain vehicle modeling and simulation tools to support HRC’s vehicle performance development. Create, validate, and program vehicle, aero, powertrain, and vehicle dynamics models for DIL and simulation platforms, working closely with internal HRC groups and external partners. Support rig, wind tunnel, and track testing through test planning, data analysis, and reporting. Develop and maintain software tools and control system models using modern software practices (e.g., C++, Dymola), enabling efficient analysis of chassis and vehicle performance data. Communicate project status and results clearly through timely technical reports, presentations, and controlled documentation.
Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred) with proven 3-5 years of experience in vehicle dynamics simulation, data analysis, and controls development within a pinnacle‑level professional motorsports environment. Demonstrated expertise in racing vehicle data analysis, simulation software validation, tire and chassis systems, and limit‑handling vehicle dynamics. Proficient in MATLAB, Python, statistical analysis, machine learning techniques for non‑linear regression, and systematic design of experiments. Experienced in test planning and execution using tire rigs and Driver‑In‑Loop simulators, with strong practical knowledge of race car setup methodologies. A self‑directed, detail‑oriented professional with excellent communication, leadership, project management, and problem‑solving skills, capable of performing effectively under pressure in fast‑paced, competitive, and culturally diverse racing environments.
