A manufacturing company in the North Georgia area is seeking a skilled CAD/CAM Programmer for a fulltime position.


About the Role


The CAD/CAM Programmer is responsible for creating accurate 3D models and production-ready programs for sheet metal components in a fast-paced metal fabrication facility. This role focuses on drafting all parts in SolidWorks and generating CNC programs using CAM platforms such as Amada 4i and AlmaCam. The programmer will translate customer drawings and engineering requirements into manufacturable designs, optimize tooling paths and nesting for efficiency, and support production teams with technical guidance. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of sheet metal processes, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and shop floor personnel.

Responsibilities


Create 3D models and detailed drawings of sheet metal components in SolidWorks
Program CNC equipment using CAM software, including Amada 4i and AlmaCam
Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and manufacturing requirements
Optimize part layouts, nesting, and tooling paths for efficient production
Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability
Troubleshoot design or programming issues on the shop floor
Maintain organized documentation of programs, revisions, and part files

Qualifications


High School


Required Skills


Understanding of sheet metal fabrication equipment
Knowledge of tooling, punch dies, and machine capabilities/limitations
Ability to collaborate with operators, engineers, and supervisors
Familiarity with safety standards and manufacturing best practices
3-5 years in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Experience with temp-to-perm or high-mix/low-volume production environments
Proven ability to work independently and deliver accurate, production-ready programs

Preferred Skills


SolidWorks training or certification required (documentation must be provided)
Experience in CAD/CAM programming, preferably in sheet metal manufacturing
Familiarity with Amada 4i, Alma Cam, or similar CAM systems
Understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
