Job Description
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking a Computational Designer Sr. to join our inter-disciplinary computational design team. The team consists of professionals with backgrounds in engineering, physics, visual effects, 3D animation, simulation analysis, software development, and manufacturing technologies. The team works on a broad range of design problems and seeks to solve the design problems by creating novel geometry and reusable procedures that lead to reliable, high performance, cost effective, and manufacturable components. The team is small so there are opportunities to meaningfully contribute in many ways. The computational designer will work with subject matter experts to understand the design problem at hand, potential geometric solutions, previous efforts, performance requirements, and other important factors to guide the design process. The computational designer will use their creativity and expertise along with the guidance from subject matter experts to advance the state of the art of computational design and drive design solutions to completion.
You will be the Computational Designer Engineer for the Computational Design team. Our team creates novel geometry and reusable procedures that deliver reliable, high‑performance, cost‑effective, and manufacturable components for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Computational Designer you will be responsible for turning complex design challenges into practical, high‑impact solutions.
Work with subject matter experts to understand and solve design problems across a broad range of subjects
Implement novel computational design processes that generate designs for future Lockheed Martin products
Conduct research to enable and support projects through computational design technologies
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure all design requirements are met
Communicate concepts and progress clearly to stakeholders
Why Join Us
We are looking for a collaborative, purpose‑driven professional who thrives on solving challenging engineering problems. This role offers the chance to shape cutting‑edge computational design methods, work alongside a diverse group of experts, and see your ideas become real, high‑value hardware.
We are committed to supporting your work‑life balance and overall well‑being, offering flexible scheduling options. Learn more about Lockheed Martin’s comprehensive benefits package here.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes (especially for additive manufacturing)
Experience with physics simulations, topology optimization, and model analysis
Interest in tinkering, making, fabricating, and researching
Strong communication and organizational skills
Lifelong learning mentality and appetite for experimentation
Attention to technical details
Other Important Information
By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Should this match be identified you may be contacted for this and future openings.
