Company Description
Hadron Energy specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development, design, and research based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the leading MMR developer, Hadron Energy is building factory-produced, transportable microreactors that provide 24/7 carbon-free power for data centers, government facilities, industrial sites, and remote communities. Our mission is to create a brighter, healthier, and more equitable energy future.

General Application - Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Component Analysis Engineer, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Remote or hybrid work will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The position is ideal for candidates with technical expertise in nuclear component design and analysis, who are passionate about advancing safe, scalable nuclear technology.

You will work closely with our cross-functional team to support the design, analysis, and fabrication of Hadron’s micro modular reactor. The role focus is on the structural and thermal-hydraulic validation of reactor components, ensuring high-fidelity modeling and rigorous adherence to nuclear codes to guarantee the integrity of our microreactor technology.

Responsibilities
Develop system-level models to characterize thermal, seismic, and other design loading conditions to establish the structural design basis for component analysis.
Perform various analyses including stress, fatigue, buckling, seismic, and vibration of reactor components using classical tools like Mathcad and finite element analysis (FEA) software like ANSYS.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform static and dynamic analysis using both linear and non-linear approaches.
Work with interdisciplinary teams to establish and optimize nuclear component designs consistent with required functional and safety requirements.
Prepare and review documentation of analysis results and design solutions.
Support the development of required inputs and methodologies to establish structural sizing and design basis loads for reactor components and interfaces.
Perform rigorous peer reviews to maintain quality standards per the engineering procedures.
Assist management with technical planning, strategy, and acting as a technical point of contact for component analysis tasks.
Mentor junior engineers and team members to build a highly skilled and confident analysis team.

Required Qualifications and Skillsets
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of related experience with a proven ability to produce high-quality technical work products.
Extensive experience in the analysis of components to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section III, Division 1 or similar (Section VIII Division 2).
Working experience with other codes and standards such as ASME Section VIII, B31.1, B31.3, ASCE 4, ASCE 7, and/or ASCE 43.
Proficiency in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.
Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and metal fatigue principles.
Experience developing static and dynamic loads for component design
Demonstrated experience in mechanical analysis of equipment using elastic, elastic-plastic, or inelastic analysis methods.
Experience working under stringent quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
Expertise in detail-oriented review of drawings, documents, and calculations to ensure consistency and technical rigor.
Registered professional engineer, or ability to obtain active license within 6-months
Appendix XXIII Certifying Engineer Qualification, or the ability to demonstrate and achieve this qualification within 12-months
Proficiency in utilizing Mathcad and Python for engineering calculations and automation.
Excellent communication skills and a high degree of integrity, with a desire to foster teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
