Role Description The CMP Foundry Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for supporting and optimizing Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) processes within a semiconductor foundry environment. This role involves developing, characterizing, and sustaining CMP processes for a wide variety of semiconductor applications, including monitoring process performance, analyzing data, and driving yield and quality improvements. The engineer collaborates closely with operations, equipment engineering, R&D, and quality teams to troubleshoot process issues, qualify new consumables and tooling, and implement best practices in manufacturing. Day-to-day activities include creating and updating process documentation, defining experiment plans, managing equipment recipes and settings, and ensuring adherence to safety and industry standards.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of CMP process engineering, including slurry chemistry, pad selection, process parameters, and defect/yield analysis.
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing, preferably in Silicon Carbide, power devices, or related wafer fabrication and advanced packaging environments.
Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) tools to monitor, interpret, and improve process performance.
Hands-on experience with CMP equipment operation, maintenance coordination, and process qualification activities.
Ability to design and execute experiments (DOE), document procedures, and present technical findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical) or a closely related technical field.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, manufacturing-focused environment.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner with production, quality, and R&D teams on-site.
Familiarity with industry safety practices and cleanroom protocols; experience with ISO or similar quality systems is a plus.
