Luminus is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Characterization Engineer to measure and characterize Laser Diode and LED products. In this role you will run optical and electrical tests, check component quality, and assist senior engineers with laser diode and LED design. This position is primarily located in Sunnyvale, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate product testing to effectively describe the performance characteristics of Laser Diodes, LED products, and their components.
Test packaged chips for optical power, wavelength, beam shape, voltage, and thermal characteristics.
Set up optical and electrical test benches, working closely with Test & Characterization Engineers and Technicians to develop new characterization tools and methodology, as well as to quickly learn and adapt to meet new product requirements.
Write clear technical reports and effectively communicate test results, conclusions, and recommendations. Advise product development teams on product performance and assist senior engineers with laser diode and LED design.
Qualifications For The Position
MS or PhD degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Photonics or related fields
2–5 years of relevant industry or research experience in optics, photonics, optical engineering, or a related field
Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and optoelectronics
Hands-on lab skills with previous experience characterizing Laser Diodes
Excellent data analysis skills with strong attention to detail
Proficiency in computer languages and/or software used to automate equipment and data analysis, such as Python and JMP
Independently driven, able to manage multiple simultaneous tasks effectively
Effective verbal and written communication skills

Compensation Range: $110,000 - $140,000 / year
Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualification.
