We are looking for an AV Installation and Design Engineer who creates, plans, and installs customized audio-visual systems—such as conferencing, sound, and display systems—for corporate, educational, or entertainment venues. He/She bridges the gap between technical design (CAD, Visio, signal flow) and hands-on implementation, including hardware mounting, cabling, and configuring systems to meet client needs.
Core Responsibilities
Design & Engineering: Creating detailed system drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams using CAD or Visio software.
System Design & Planning: Conducting site surveys, determining project scope, and developing a bill of materials (BOM).
Installation & Integration: Mounting projectors, displays, speakers, and microphones; running cables (copper, fiber); and configuring control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, and Q-Sys).
Commissioning & Testing: Calibrating video walls, audio DSPs, and video conferencing systems (Teams/Zoom) to ensure optimal performance.
Documentation: Providing "as-built" documentation, user manuals, and technical training for end-users
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of AV signal flow, cabling standards, network infrastructure (IP networking), and control systems.
Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD, D-Tools, or Microsoft Visio.
Physical Ability: Capability to navigate construction sites, climb ladders, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
Certifications: require industry certifications like AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), CTS-D (Design), or CTS-I (Installation).
Common Job Functions
Collaborating with IT staff for network integration.
Troubleshooting and maintenance of existing AV infrastructure.
Managing project timelines and coordinating with other contractors.
