Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Engineer (SDET) to join an Agile development team supporting a highly secure, mission-critical government system. This role involves designing, developing, and executing automated test solutions to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of complex applications handling sensitive financial transactions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on automation expert with strong experience in framework development, modern automation tools, and API testing, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks from scratch
Develop and execute automated test scripts for functional, regression, and integration testing
Perform API testing and validate backend services
Analyze business and technical requirements to create detailed test cases and automation strategies
Execute manual and automated test cases and log, track, and resolve defects
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing
Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and business analysts to ensure end-to-end quality assurance
Support release planning, regression cycles, and test reporting
Monitor logs and troubleshoot issues in test environments
Ensure comprehensive test coverage across application layers
Required Qualifications
Experience
5+ years of overall IT experience in software testing
3+ years of hands-on automation testing experience
Proven experience as an SDET / Automation Engineer
Absolute Must-Have Skills
Strong hands-on experience with:
Playwright Automation (REQUIRED)
TestNG
JUnit
Cucumber (BDD framework)
Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
Strong JavaScript coding skills
Solid experience in API testing (REST/SOAP)
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) and SDLC
Experience with test case design, execution, and defect tracking
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, UFT or similar)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and integration of automation suites
Working knowledge of SQL
Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Quality Center)
Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, Bitbucket)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., LoadRunner)
Exposure to highly secure or financial transaction systems
Experience working on federal/government projects
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work in a fast-paced, Agile environment
Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
