Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Facilities Sector. We are hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support our client, California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA), within the Facilities Services and Maintenance & Operations (M&O) environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on, process‑minded individual who can coordinate small capital projects, tenant improvements, and minor construction activities while working directly with trades, vendors, and campus stakeholders.
This position is a boots‑on‑the‑ground coordinator who understands how work should be sequenced, communicates effectively with multiple trades, and helps build and refine processes, including the use of the TMA work order system. The Assistant Project Manager will serve as a key support resource for M&O, ensuring work is organized, scheduled, and executed smoothly.
Responsibilities
Provide design oversight, technical and administrative support during the preconstruction phase, construction phase and closeout phase.
Responsible for project document control, circulating, receiving, tracking, and maintaining organized document files, i.e. Review plans, meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, change orders, ASIs, schedules, etc.
Responsible for management of review comments from stakeholders, i.e. circulating design documents for review, collecting review comments, compiling, vetting, tracking, etc. to ensure issues are addressed.
Assist with change order management. The APM shall be able to independently review change order requests for merit and fair pricing and prepare change orders for processing.
Manage the closeout and turn over process.
Assist to prepare project files for CSU system audit at project completion.
Site conditions verification and support as needed.
Responsible for setting up meetings as needed, note taking and follow-up.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or any related field
7+ years minimum experience in the construction industry as a project engineer or similar, including major capital projects
Excellent communication skills and professional attitude
Experience providing design, technical and administrative support during the preconstruction phase, construction phase and closeout phase
Ability to independently review change order requests for merit and fair pricing and prepare change orders for processing
Ability to prepare project files for CSU system audit at project completion
Preferred:
Institutional/Higher Ed experience preferred but not required
CSU experience is a plus but not required
Experience working for a general contractor on large construction projects is a plus
Salary range: $135K to $150K/yearly
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Work Environment: Onsite, Full-time, 6-9 months assignment
