This is an opportunity to become the technical liaison between commercial teams and leading manufacturing customers, driving optimization and growth through technical expertise and innovation. As an Application Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the company's market differentiation, introducing new technologies, and working directly with clients across the US and Canada in a dynamic and supportive environment. This role does require frequent travel to customer sites, typically Tuesday through Thursday alongside the sales team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Account Executives to identify and execute process optimization opportunities at customer facilities, presenting solutions supported by CAD–CAFIS and MAGMASOFT simulation tools.
Provide ongoing technical assistance in metallurgy, production process improvement, gating, risering, pattern layout, product applications, and casting defect analysis.
Participate in product management, development, and operations teams to support the commercialization of new product designs.
Develop and deliver technical presentations, seminars, and promote product innovations to customers and industry associations.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports on customer projects and maintain project plans and time management schedules.
Act as the technical voice of the customer, offering insight into market strategies and initiatives for business growth.
Engage in up to 60% travel (local, overnight, and some international) to support customer relationships and drive process improvements.
Must-Have Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science (preferably Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering).
5+ years of experience in metals casting and foundry processes.
Expertise in modern foundry practices, including gating/risering, metal treatment, refractories, and coatings.
Strong project management and organizational skills, able to develop and maintain project plans and schedules.
Excellent communication skills for technical presentations, reporting, and customer engagement.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing methodologies.
Familiarity with CAD–CAFIS, MAGMASOFT, or equivalent engineering simulation software.
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across teams and with customers.
Creative problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities in a technical environment.
Adaptability to changing environments, demonstrating initiative and a strong ownership mindset.
