Cullerton Group is seeking a highly technical Application / Process Engineer to support engineered water treatment system solutions near Charlotte, NC. This hybrid role blends applications engineering, system design, and technical sales support, giving you the opportunity to influence system performance, customer outcomes, and project success from proposal through delivery.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering $120,000 – $130,000 total compensation (base + commission) along with a full benefits package.

Work Schedule
Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote
First 3 months: onsite 5 days per week for onboarding
What You’ll Do
Pre-Sales Engineering & Quoting
Review RFQs/RFPs and ensure technical compliance
Size and select optimal water treatment technologies based on system requirements
Develop technical proposals, scopes, and pricing in collaboration with sales teams
Create process flow diagrams (PFDs) and support layout drawings
Build and maintain cost models, quote templates, and parts databases
System Design & Engineering
Design complete water filtration systems, including component selection and system layout
Support development of P&IDs and instrumentation integration
Ensure systems meet customer performance requirements and quality standards
Select appropriate pumps, valves, filters, sensors, and instrumentation
Create BOMs, part numbers, and order documentation for project execution
Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams during project handoff
Technical & Customer Support
Provide technical presentations and product training to partners and customers
Support projects through manufacturing, testing, and delivery
Maintain communication with customers to clarify scope and technical details
Review system feedback and contractor reports to support continuous improvement
Contribute to internal application and product knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
3–5 years of experience in water treatment system design, process engineering, or applications engineering
Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations, pressure loss, and component sizing
Experience with 3D CAD and process design tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD P&ID, or similar)
Familiarity with pumps, valves, sensors, tanks, and process equipment
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Preferred
Experience with filtration, RO, DI, or related water treatment technologies
Knowledge of industry standards (UL, CSA, ANSI, ASME)
Experience supporting engineered systems in technical/commercial environments
