Staff Analog IC Design Engineer – Mixed Signal / Photonics (Hybrid) | Permanent | Deep Tech Client

We're partnering with a pioneering deep tech company building photonics-enabled computing systems. They sit at the intersection of analog IC design and silicon photonics, a space that's attracting serious investment and some of the most interesting design challenges in the industry right now.

They need a Staff mixed signal engineer to own the design of precision data converters, biasing circuits and photonic control drivers. This is a system-level and transistor-level role where your work directly enables the control and tuning of integrated photonic components.

What you'll be doing:
Designing ADC and DAC architectures including SAR, pipeline, current-steering and resistor-string topologies. Building precision references, bandgap circuits, LDO regulators and bias networks. Designing heater drivers and current sources for thermal tuning of photonic devices. Integrating third-party IP including ADC/DAC blocks, SerDes and PHY interfaces. Developing AMS verification environments using Spectre/AMS Designer and behavioral models in Verilog-A or wreal. Supporting silicon characterization and test correlation.

What you need:
8 to 10 years in mixed-signal IC design. Proven ADC or DAC tape-out experience. Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/AMS. Scripting in Python or MATLAB. MEng, MSc or PhD in Electronic or Electrical Engineering. Familiarity with silicon photonics components is a strong advantage but not a hard requirement.

The photonics angle makes this a genuinely rare brief. If you want to be close to the hardware that's shaping the next generation of computing, this is worth a conversation.
