Role Overview
We are seeking an Airbag Control Module Validation Engineer to support vehicle crash testing activities and occupant safety system validation. The engineer will be responsible for preparing Airbag Control Units (ACU/ORC) prior to crash tests, verifying hardware and software configurations, collecting crash data, performing diagnostics, and generating validation reports.
This role requires hands-on experience with vehicle electronics, ECU software flashing, crash data collection, and vehicle network diagnostics. The successful candidate will work closely with safety system suppliers, test facilities, and engineering teams to ensure accurate test execution and data reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Crash Test Preparation
Verify that the correct hardware and software versions are installed in the Airbag Control Unit (ACU/ORC) before crash testing.
Coordinate with suppliers and engineering teams to obtain and validate the appropriate software and calibration files.
Perform software flashing, module updates, and configuration activities as required.
Clear fault memory and verify module health prior to test execution.
Prepare pre-test reports documenting module status and configuration.
Ensure the Airbag Control Unit is properly configured and active before crash testing begins.
Crash Test Support & Data Collection
Support vehicle crash test activities involving occupant restraint and airbag systems.
Monitor Airbag Control Unit status throughout the testing process.
Retrieve and record crash event data following test completion.
Verify data integrity and ensure successful data extraction from the module.
Support post-test analysis and documentation activities.
Reporting & Analysis
Generate and maintain pre-test and post-test validation reports.
Document Airbag Control Unit status before and after crash events.
Submit crash data and test results to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Support failure analysis activities and review diagnostic information.
Investigate and clear DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with validation teams, safety engineers, suppliers, and crash test facilities.
Support troubleshooting and issue resolution activities related to crash test execution and module performance.
Maintain accurate documentation and testing records.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
2–5 years of experience in automotive electronics, validation, testing, or vehicle integration.
Experience working with automotive ECUs and vehicle electrical systems.
Basic understanding of occupant safety systems and airbag control modules.
Required Technical Skills
ECU software flashing and configuration management.
Basic experience using CANoe or similar CAN communication tools.
Experience reading and analyzing vehicle network data.
Basic failure analysis and diagnostic troubleshooting.
Experience clearing and analyzing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture and electronic control modules.
Ability to interpret technical documentation and test procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting vehicle crash tests or safety validation activities.
Familiarity with occupant restraint systems and airbag control modules.
Knowledge of CAN communication and vehicle diagnostics.
Exposure to automotive validation and testing processes.
Key Competencies

Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
