Company Description
Rexgear is one of the leading power solutions companies in North America, specializing in test and measurement systems for advanced power electronics. Our portfolio includes programmable DC power supplies, AC power sources, electronic loads, battery cyclers, regenerative test systems, power analyzers, environmental chambers, and automated test systems. We support innovative companies across industries such as renewable energy, battery R&D, EV/EVSE, aerospace, semiconductors, energy storage, and industrial automation.
Role Description
Rexgear is expanding into the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence hardware market. We are seeking an experienced AI Test Engineer to join our product development team in Irvine, CA. This is a high-impact, strategic role focused on engineering an innovative, next-generation test product designed to solve the critical power testing bottlenecks currently facing the AI industry.
In this role, you will leverage your deep knowledge of AI server architectures, high-performance GPUs, and Voltage Regulator Modules (VRMs) to define, develop, and validate Rexgear’s new AI-focused testing hardware and software. You will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI hardware demands and advanced power electronics test solutions, directly helping Rexgear penetrate and excel in this high-growth sector.
Responsibilities
Design, architect, and develop Rexgear’s new line of test products tailored specifically for AI servers, GPUs, and accelerators.
Characterize and analyze the unique power challenges of AI hardware, focusing on extreme transient load responses, dynamic power sequencing, and ultra-high current delivery to VRMs.
Define product requirements and technical specifications by identifying the unsolved pain points of engineers and researchers pushing the boundaries of AI hardware.
Design and execute bench tests, proof-of-concepts, and hardware/software integration setups for prototype validation.
Develop automated test frameworks and remote instrument control protocols using Python, LabVIEW, or SCPI commands to benchmark product performance.
Create foundational technical documentation, including product specifications, integration guides, and advanced application notes for the AI hardware sector.
Collaborate with leadership, applications engineering, and sales teams to align product evolution with market opportunities.
Travel up to 10% to interface with top-tier AI hardware companies, participate in industry working groups, and deploy alpha/beta test systems.
Minimum Qualifications
US Citizen or Green Card holder.
Deep technical understanding and experience of AI server hardware architecture, GPU power delivery networks (PDN), and VRM design challenges.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or related discipline required.
1–3+ years of experience in applications engineering, test engineering, systems engineering, or power electronics.
Extensive experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DC/AC power supplies, loads, signal generators, etc.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Deep industry expertise with the capability to identify the precise testing demands of leading AI semiconductor manufacturers and hyper-scale data centers, converting these market inefficiencies into high-impact product roadmap features for Rexgear.
Strong understanding of power electronics fundamentals: DC/DC converters, inverters, AC/DC systems, batteries, or control systems.
Ability to read and design schematics, wiring diagrams, and test setups.
Hands-on experience with test automation or remote instrument control (Python, LabVIEW, or SCPI commands).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically in customer environments.
Ability to learn and process technical information at a fast pace and changing environment.
Strong written and verbal technical communication ability in English.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Self-motivated and eager to champion a new product line within a fast-growing engineering environment.
Why Join Rexgear?
Ownership of a brand-new product vertical and leave your mark on the AI hardware industry.
Work with advanced power test systems used by today's most innovative companies.
Be part of a fast-growing engineering team with direct visibility and rapid career development.
Salary based on experience, education, and skills.
