About the Company

Quanta Aviation Services Group operates a portfolio of helicopter and fixed-wing companies serving utility infrastructure, aerial firefighting, and specialized aviation markets across North America. We are a $280M business unit of Quanta Services, an S&P 500 infrastructure company. Our work touches the physical world. The fires that get put out. The transmission lines that get rebuilt after storms. The construction that gets finished on time.

The AI function at QASG is being built from scratch, and this is a foundational hire. You will help architect what comes next, not maintain what someone else already built.

About the Role

We are hiring an AI Generalist Automator to build the practical AI tools that change how a $280M aviation services group operates. Not a researcher, not a program manager, not a vendor evaluator. A builder who looks at a broken process, scopes a tool that replaces it, and ships a working version in a week. Our thesis is the one Amjad Masad, the CEO of Replit, describes for his enterprise customers. The cost of software implementation is approaching zero. The bottleneck has shifted to people who combine operational judgment with the discipline to ship practical, adopted tools. We have proven this thesis works inside QASG with a small set of internal applications. We are looking for the person who can scale it across our portfolio. This role is sometimes called an AI Engineer, AI Builder, or Applied AI position in the market. Inside QASG, we call it Generalist Automator because the work spans engineering, operations, and product judgment.

Responsibilities

Ship practical AI-powered tools that replace existing manual processes, on the order of dozens per quarter rather than a handful per year.
Own the QASG internal application platform end to end, including security tiers, audit logs, database design, and deployments across our operating companies.
Develop and maintain Claude skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and custom automation pipelines spanning finance, operations, and HR.
Partner directly with operators (controllers, dispatchers, pilots, recruiters) to identify high-value automation opportunities and validate adoption in the field.
Coach internal teams to evaluate AI output critically, so they use tools well and catch their own mistakes.
Lead our engagements with outside consulting partners on AI architecture decisions over time.

Qualifications

You probably check most of these:

You have shipped AI-powered tools that real users adopted and use regularly. We will evaluate your portfolio, not your resume.
Your default on a build problem is to ship a working version in a few days, accept it will be imperfect, and iterate.
You pick the simplest solution that creates value rather than the most elegant or technically sophisticated one.
You have an operational, finance, or consulting background and taught yourself to build with AI tools. Or you have a software engineering background with a track record of wanting to leave SaaS for industry. Or you have a technical degree paired with a real portfolio of shipped tools.
You are comfortable being early. The systems are not yet built. You will help build them.

You are probably not a fit if:

Your strongest projects are bespoke, high-complexity builds that demonstrate technical sophistication but never reached real users.
Your first move on a build problem is to write a vendor RFP.
You need enterprise change management process before shipping a tool that takes three hours to rebuild.
You are looking for a research role rather than a builder role.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 90 days, you will have shipped two or three new internal tools that operators use daily, and you will have taken ownership of our existing platform. In the first year, you will have eliminated at least four legacy processes by replacing them with practical AI tools, expanded the Claude skill library, and built enough credibility with operating company leadership that they bring you their problems unprompted.

Location and Work Style

Remote, with quarterly travel to Red Bluff, California for in-person sessions with operating company leadership. Occasional travel to Houston (Quanta corporate) and other operating company sites. We operate on a high-trust, async-first model.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are committed to diversity and inclusivity.

How We Will Evaluate You

The portfolio is the gate. Send us links to AI-powered tools you have shipped, with short notes on who used them, how often, and what process they replaced. If you advance, the interview is a structured conversation followed by a practical build assessment scoped at five to ten hours. We grade the build itself plus a short writeup of who would use it, how often, and what process it replaces.

How to Apply

Apply through LinkedIn with your portfolio. We respond to every application that includes a real portfolio link.
