Summary Of The Role

The Application Engineer (AE) is responsible for supporting MRO & Aftermarket with technical support of aerospace products, materials and services. The primary objective is to work directly with sales engineers, airlines and aerospace MROs to advise product and material solutions per the customer’s requirements as well as specify Trelleborg Aerospace products and capabilities. In addition, they will support build to specification type designs for the purpose of generating formal solutions and subsequent proposals to be presented to the customer. The AE will collaborate with other value streams to provide a total Trelleborg Aerospace MRO & Aftermarket customer solution.

An Application Engineer will utilize all tools within their means to recommend superior products and services.

Tasks And Responsibilities

Liaise with external customers and Trelleborg resources to propose solutions based on customer requirements
Confirm the technical feasibility of customer projects
Assurance of alignment to processes; Product Life Cycle Management, Customer Relationship Management, Project Management Process, Design process and other
Work within agreed and published Consensus of Designs
Support sales in seeking new customer opportunities
Prepare technical items for customer proposal; drawings, presentations, and inspection diagrams or sketches
Complete data analysis packages (dimensional, material, regulatory) on components and compile into technical report
Interpret technical data including drawing definition, models, FEA or testing results and report to customer
Provide technical assistance to customers and sales personnel
Prepare and present aerospace product, material and service training to customers
Support sales in the execution of strategic and tactical plans to drive revenue
Provide technical support for troubleshooting, providing analysis to resolve field performance problems
Maintain technical knowledge of both internal and external products, materials and services
Assist in commercial and marketing activities are requested by manager; trade shows, symposiums, forums, etc
Support quality and manufacturing in root cause and corrective action efforts

Education And Experience

Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent
3 years within application or product design engineer roles preferred
Minimum 1 year within application or product design engineer role
Proficiency in solid modeling; Unigraphics NX10 or higher, CATIA (moderate level)
Knowledge of standard component measurement methods
Knowledge in Finite Element Analysis tools and prediction preferred (moderate level)
Proficiency in Teamcenter or similar product life cycle management tools
Knowledge of aerospace polymer product applications preferred; hydraulics & actuation, airframe & structures, engine, interiors
Knowledge of polymer materials characteristics preferred
Knowledge of polymer manufacturing processes preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
Proficiency in utilization of AI into daily work
