We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Aerodynamics engineer to support aerodynamic development in CFD and production for our NASCAR program. This role sits at the intersection of aerodynamics and design, responsible for creating high-quality, simulation-ready geometry and enabling efficient CFD workflows. The ideal candidate has strong CAD surfacing expertise, understands aerodynamic intent, and can translate engineering concepts into precise digital models that drive on-track performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain high-quality CAD surface geometry for CFD analysis, including full vehicle models and aerodynamic components
  • Translate aerodynamic concepts, sketches, and scan data into clean, watertight, simulation-ready surfaces
  • Prepare and optimize geometry for CFD meshing, including simplification, defeaturing, and topology cleanup
  • Work closely with CFD analysts and aerodynamicists to ensure geometry reflects design intent and simulation requirements
  • Support rapid iteration cycles by efficiently updating CAD models based on CFD results and development priorities
  • Integrate wind tunnel and track scan data into CAD models for correlation and development
  • Ensure compliance with NASCAR body rules and templates in all CAD outputs
  • Contribute to workflow improvements in CAD-to-CFD processes, including automation and best practices
  • Take CFD improvements to production ready parts
  • Maintain organized version control and documentation of geometry changes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in CAD surfacing, preferably in motorsports or high-performance automotive applications
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, or similar surfacing tools)
  • Strong understanding of surface quality (Class A surfacing principles, continuity, curvature control)
  • Experience preparing geometry for CFD (watertight models, clean topology, meshing considerations)
  • Familiarity with aerodynamic development processes and terminology
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex geometry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with CFD teams and simulation workflows
  • Familiarity with tools such as ANSA, STAR-CCM+, or similar pre-processing environments
  • Experience with 3D scan data processing and reverse engineering
  • Knowledge of NASCAR regulations and body scanning processes
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (Python or similar)
  • Experience supporting wind tunnel development

Key Competencies

  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision
  • Strong collaboration skills across aerodynamics, design, and simulation teams
  • Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality in a fast-paced racing environment
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical implementation
  • Clear communication of geometry constraints and trade-offs
