Job Title: 3D Exterior Modeling Engineer – NX
Job Description
This role focuses on the concept and complete development of automotive bumper systems using NX, with a strong emphasis on high-quality 3D modeling, surface development, and 2D drawings. You will collaborate closely with a project team to create technically sound and manufacturable exterior components, supporting styling and engineering targets within defined timelines.
Responsibilities
Develop complete bumper system concepts and detailed designs for automotive exterior applications using NX.
Evaluate package feasibility to ensure that bumper designs integrate correctly with surrounding vehicle systems and meet spatial constraints.
Assess manufacturing feasibility of components, ensuring that designs are practical and efficient to produce.
Conduct benchmarking activities to compare designs against industry standards and competitor products.
Create master sections and technical surfaces as inputs for the styling team, ensuring accurate and robust surface quality.
Produce clear and accurate 2D drawings that fully define the components for manufacturing and validation.
Build high-quality 3D models using best-practice methodologies that allow for quick and efficient design modifications.
Collaborate and coordinate within a project team to achieve design and project targets within agreed timelines.
Understand design requirements and deliver mature, well-resolved design concepts that are ready for downstream processes.
Communicate design status, issues, and proposed solutions clearly and professionally, preferably in English.
Proactively identify potential design or feasibility issues and work with the team to resolve them with minimal supervision.
Continuously learn and adopt new design technologies, tools, and methods to improve design quality and efficiency.
Essential Skills
Strong hands-on experience with UG NX (NX) for solid modeling, surface modeling, and creation of 2D drawings.
Proven experience and know-how in automotive exterior design, particularly bumper systems or similar components.
Basic knowledge of component manufacturing feasibility, including understanding of design-for-manufacture principles.
Practical understanding of the injection molding process and its implications for part design and tooling.
Ability to create robust master sections and technical surfaces suitable for styling and downstream engineering.
Capability to build high-quality 3D models using structured methodologies that support quick design changes.
Good communication skills, preferably in English, to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proactive working style with low dependency on others, able to take initiative and drive tasks forward independently.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools, methods, and design technologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong interest in learning and applying new design technologies and CAD methodologies.
Ability to interpret and incorporate benchmarking insights into design improvements.
Attention to detail in both 3D modeling and 2D documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
