Summary

We are seeking a Senior Staff /Staff Engineer, Networking to join our Sonic NOS/SDK team. This is a senior-level, Individual contributor position focused on the development and sustenance of Network Operating Systems(NOS) for white-box switching platforms.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in NOS architecture, L2/L3 protocol development, ASIC integration, and programming in C/C++.

This is a pure individual contributor (IC) role. You’ll collaborate with global engineering teams and work at the forefront of NOS software design, enabling advanced networking solutions for data center and enterprise environments.

Detailed Description

Should have a strong command over "C" programming language/C++ and must have executed projects in it.
Should have a solid exposure of programming ASICs (Broadcom, Marvell, Innovium, P4) and must have done projects around it.
Should have a very good knowledge of Linux kernel from a networking perspective.
Exposure to ebtables/iptables preferred.
Must have a good understanding of configuration management technologies and streaming telemetry technologies.
Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-cultural and multi-regional high performance team.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Technical Core
NOS Development or Sustenance

NOS Experience

SONiC (preferred), Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Arista EOS or like
Layer-2 Protocols: STP, LLDP, LACP, etc...
Layer-3: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EVPN/VXLAN, MPLS, etc...
Programming Languages
Strong proficiency in C/C++
Python/bash/go Lang (Good to have skills)
ASIC/Hardware Experience
Familiarity with Broadcom (DNX/XGS), Marvell, or similar ASICs
Experience working on hardware-software integration for networking products

Engineering Execution

Ability to independently design, code, debug, and validate complex NOS features
Hands-on experience with Linux networking subsystems

Team Collaboration

Ability to work with geographically distributed teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills in a technical engineering context

Physical Demands

Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
